Some great shots here and a solid attempt at recreating the thriller conventions in this sub-genre.
points to learn from
- great use of sound under opening title
- Would have been better for continuity to have this sound bleed over into opening scene so not to stop short when action starts
- establishing shot with hand-held camera / shaky shots work really well. It would have been good to have had credits coming up over this to reflect your understanding of the codes conventions of an opening in a film sequence.
- tilting shot of trees as part of the establishing shot aren't really effective as you use that shot later then it goes to the trees and it changes to nighttime so there's purpose in that one. No real purpose in this shot earlier on.
- nice transition from day to night with spinning tree shot (low angle shot)
- shot of Kevin standing at tent before he walks doesn't make sense in the continuity of the sequence
- nice use of shadows in the walking sequence
- watch sound - the music gets really loud
- nice build of sound at intense moments
- great reveal of ax-man with tent opening
- credits at the end are not in the correct format for the conventions / codes of a movie
